Mind, Knowledge and Control

For control systems engineers, minds -human or animal- have always been a source of envy, inspiration, mesmerisation and despair. Apparently, the power of minds as top level controllers is based on their capability to capture and exploit knowledge.

The tantalising questions are there How knowledge makes effective control actions possible? and the spookier one that takes us into the deep waters of philosophy What is knowledge ?

For engineers, this is extended into the more practical question of how this knowledge-based control schema is realised into minds - natural and artificial.
