Basic CVIndustrial/Electrical Engineer specialised in Automatic Control, Electronics and Embedded Software. PhD in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
At presentProfessor in Systems Engineering and Automatic Control at the Department of Automatic Control of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Coordinator of the Autonomous Systems Laboratory (ASLab.org) research group. Working on my long-term, core research project: Mind, Knowledge and Control, i.e. how knowledge makes control actions possible and how this schema is realised into minds - natural and artificial. Coordinator of the ICEA, C3 and HUMANOBS projects (See ASLab Website for more information on them).

Mind, Knowledge and ControlFor control systems engineers, minds -human or animal- have always been a source of envy, inspiration, mesmerisation and despair. Apparently, the power of minds as top level controllers is based on their capability to capture and exploit knowledge. The tantalising questions are there How knowledge makes effective control actions possible? and the spookier one that takes us into the deep waters of philosophy What is knowledge ? For engineers, this is extended into the more practical question of how this knowledge-based control schema is realised into minds - natural and artificial. |
